William Place


NORWICH – William T. Place, 60, of Quakertown, died Saturday June 3, 2006 in his home. He was the loving husband of Kathleen ‘Kathy’ (Brzezicki) Place. The couple would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on Aug. 13.
A graduate of Quakertown High School, Class of 1964, he worked for a number of years for the former Amey Lumber Co., Richlandtown and the former Bethlehem Steel Co., Bethlehem, before he entered the U.S. Army surviving a tour of duty in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He returned home to take his place working on the family dairy farm for many years until the farm stopped operation. He also drove school bus for the Levy Bus Co., Trumbauersville.
Born in Norwich, he was the son of Marguerite (Fitzgerald) Place of Quakertown and the late Oliver C. Place.
He was a member of St. Isidore’s Catholic Church, Quakertown and the Quakertown Moose Lodge.
Surviving with his wife and mother, son Jamie of Quakertown; three daughters Janine Gruber and husband Jesse of Richlandtown, Maureen Cressman and husband Daniel of Quakertown, and Julianne at home; two brothers James F. and wife Barbara of Quakertown and Dan O. and wife Claudia of Mercersburg; granddaughters Katie and Hannah Hartman.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Isidore’s Catholic Church, W. Pumping Station Rd. at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. Interment parish cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the Jeffrey A. Naugle Funeral Home, 20 N. Ambler St., Quakertown on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions to scleroderma research at Jacob Lab.
