Rita Wymer


NORWICH – Rita M. Wymer, 82, formerly of Manley Road and Lee Avenue, Norwich, passed away Sunday evening, Feb. 18, 2007 in the New York State Veterans’ Home of Oxford, where she had made her home for the past several months.
Rita was born Oct. 23, 1924 in Geneva, the daughter of Clyde and Frances Loomis Hetherington. She attended school in Cincinnati, Ohio and from December 1944 through December 1945 served her country as a WAVE in the United States Navy. On Nov. 29, 1946 in Norwich she married William S. Wymer, who passed away May 17, 1997. While making her home in Norwich, Rita had worked as a waitress for the Bluebird Restaurant and the Norwich Grille. She had also worked as a clerk for McNeil Jewlers and as a data entry clerk for Victory Markets.
Rita is survivied by her sisters, Eloise Hetherington of Norwich and Gloria DeWalt of Cincinnati, Ohio; her nieces Karen Turner and Judey Rahe, both of Cincinnati, several great-nieces and one great-nephew all of Cincinnati.
Besides her husband Bill, Rita was predeceased by her brother Robert E. Hetherington.
A Mass of Resurrection for Rita will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday from St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Douglas Cunningham, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in at a later date in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours. Contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity.
Arrangements are with the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
