Eleanor Russell


SMYRNA – Eleanor N. Russell, 94, formerly of School Street, passed away Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007 at Community Memorial Hospital, Hamilton.
Born Sept. 8, 1912 in Pitcher, she was a daughter of Record Dean and Grace P. Ainsworth Tuttle and was a graduate of Smyrna High School. On Oct. 27, 1933, Eleanor was united in marriage to Maurice Russell in Smyrna. They made their home in Smyrna where Eleanor was a homemaker and a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Maurice predeceased her on Sept. 14, 1990.
Mrs. Russell was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Smyrna, and was very active in the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Tiandara Chapter #631 of Sherburne; was a former member of the Cornell Co-operative Extension of Norwich, and had been a 4-H leader for many years.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Maureen Perkins of Sherburne; Carol and Clark Spaulding of Casa Grande, Ariz.; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Neil and Howard Tuttle, and a son-in-law, Lyle Perkins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the First United Methodist Church, Smyrna.
Interment will be in the Willcox Cemetery, Town of Smyrna.
Friends are invited to call at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m.
There will be an O.E.S. service at 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
