NORWICH – Della Merrill Magrath, 89, formerly of Horstman Lane, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2006 at the New York State Veterans’ Home, Oxford.
Born April 1, 1917 in Gouverneur, Della was the daughter of George and Margaret Revine Rice. She was married to Raymond Merrill in November 1936, a union that lasted over 50 years until his death in 1987. She married Fred Magrath in November 1989, and he predeceased her in January 2006. Della had lived most of her life in the Columbus area, and later in Zephyrhills, Fla. She had worked at the Utica Knitting Mill in Sherburne, and for Kraft Foods in South Edmeston.
Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Sally Merrill of Sherburne; granddaughter Dianne (Darrell) Masker; great-grandsons, Daniel and Derrick Masker; great-great grandson, Chad Masker, all of Madison; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Richard R. Merrill; two grandsons, Rick Merrill and Darren Masker; five brothers, Henry, Thomas, Arthur, Cecil and Clifford Rice, and a sister, Celia Bailey.
Graveside services will be private at the convenience of the family in the Columbus Corners Cemetery.
