Robert Chase


SOUTH EDMESTON – Robert James Chase, 61, of South Edmeston, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007 in the VA Medical Center of Syracuse.
He was born June 16, 1945 in Utica, the son of Harry & Regina (Wilcox) Chase. He was raised by his Aunt, Flora Bice who was like a mother to him.
Robert spent his childhood in South Edmeston. He was a 1964 graduate of New Berlin Central School and graduate of the Utica School of Commerce.
Robert was a milk tester for DHI of Ithaca. He was a hard worker and enjoyed his job.
Robert was an MP serving in the U.S .Army from 1965-1969 during the Vietnam era. He was stationed in the city of Asmara, Eritrea at base Kagnew Station.
Robert was a diehard NASCAR and Yankee’s fan. He had a heart of gold and would help anyone at any time. He loved his children and grandchildren very much and enjoyed the “oldies” and rock n’ roll.
Robert is survived by his former wife, Graziella Chase. Two sons: Robert E. Chase of Bridgewater; Brian & Paula Chase of Leonardsville; three grandchildren: Tyler, Matthew and Joya. He is also survived by his beloved dog and pal, Mitzi.
He is also survived by three sisters: Sharon Howland of Endicott; Marie Petry of South New Berlin; Sandy & Butch Millard of Windsor; a half sister, Helen & Richard Stafford of Baldwinsville; eight nieces & nephews: Scott, Jennifer, Heather, Shawn, Shevonne, Mike, Melissa & Desi.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin, with the Reverend Beverly Butler of the First United Methodist Church, New Berlin, officiating.
Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, New Berlin.
Calling hours will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Monday prior to the funeral service at the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin.
Memorial donations may be made to the National Diabetes Association.
