Donna Lee Schoonmaker


Donna Lee Schoonmaker, 77, of Madison Lane, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013 at her home.
She was born March 21, 1936 in Long Beach, CA, a daughter of Howard and Dorothy Brown McNeill. She was a graduate of Orange Union High School and the Art Center School in CA with a degree in advertising and fashion illustration. She had worked in advertising as a layout artist for Weatherwax and Spurgeon in Los Angeles, The Boston Store in Utica, and then the Evening Sun and Pennysaver in Norwich until her retirement. Donna was a gifted artist who made pottery and sold her beautiful creations at the Hamilton Farmers’ Market. She was a fan of Mets baseball, enjoyed gardening and tending her plants, and spent many hours reading the latest books from the Earlville and Hamilton libraries.
Surviving are her son Adam Schoonmaker and his wife, Tamie Leslie of Hamilton; daughter, Adine Schoonmaker and her husband, Cheewai Yip of Hamilton; grandson, Addison Schoonmaker; sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Guy Wilcox of San Diego, CA; sister-in-law, Fran McNeill of Albuquerque, NM; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Curtis McNeill.
In keeping with her wishes, there are no services or calling hours.
Interment is private at the convenience of her family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 25 Broad St., Hamilton, NY.
