Amy Lynn Cummings, 39, a life long resident of Norwich, passed away unexpectedly Monday October 21, 2013.
Amy was born in Norwich on Nov. 23, 1973 the daughter of Patricia McIntyre and Wayne Newkirk. She attended the Norwich schools as well as BOCES where she earned her nursing degree. Over the years Amy has worked as an LPN for Chenango Memorial Hospital, Valley View Manor Nursing Home and Norwich Rehab. and Nursing Center.
Amy enjoyed helping people. Her cool, calm and efficient ways made her a perfect fit for her profession as an LPN. She enjoyed life and everything about it.
On July 15, 1995 in Norwich she married Edwin Cummings II who survives. Besides her husband Ed, she is survived by her children Macey Newkirk, Karianne, Amanda and Carissa Cummings all of Norwich; her mother and step-dad Patricia (Patty) Meigs and husband Andy of Norwich; her father Wayne Newkirk of Norwich; her brother Greg Newkirk and wife Carrie of Marathon. Also surviving is her grandson Cyrus Quinn, her maternal grandmother Juanita McIntyre, 1 nephew, 2 nieces, aunts uncles and cousins.
A funeral service for Amy will be held on Friday, October 25, at 1 p.m. from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Douglas Horne will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m.
