Mildred M. Shepard, 78 of Norwich passed away peacefully at Chenango Memorial Hospital on October 15, 2013.
Mildred was born on October 11, 1935, daughter of the late Lorenzo and Mable (Brown) Miller in Oxford. On December 10, 1956 Mildred married Walter Shepard in Norwich.
As a child, Mildred attended Calvary Baptist Church. Mildred spent her life caring for her children and keeping up her home. Her family will miss her wonderful home cooking. Mildred also enjoyed cross word puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren.
Mildred is survived by her children, Debra and Gary Smith of Norwich, Darleen and Tom Pattee of Smyrna, Mike and Laurie Shepard of Norwich, Chris and Jim Fowlston of Norwich, Timothy Sr. and Stacy Shepard of Norwich, Rich Shepard Sr. and Kim Smith of Norwich, sister Marion and Dudley Church of New Berlin, special friends, Mary King and Stacey Shepard, 19 Grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren and many nieces nephews and cousins.
Mildred was predeceased by her husband Walter Shepard, sisters, Margret Kelsey, Barbara Beach, Florence Young and Midge (Mable) Wilbur her brothers, Howard Miller, Ira Miller, Raymond Miller and Joseph Miller.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2013 at noon at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. Pastor, Matthew Frayer of Bible Baptist Church in Norwich will officiate. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. Interment will be held immediately following the service at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Norwich.
