Marcia Owen


Marcia Owen, 97, of Norwich and formerly of Earlville, passed away early Monday morning, Oct. 7, 2013, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Marcia was born on July 19, 1916 the daughter of Philip and Bessie White Scheuerman. On Nov. 3, 1935 in Gilbertsville she married Norburn M. Owen who passed away Oct. 31, 1998. During wartime in the 1940’s Marcia was employed by the Scintilla of Sidney. She and her husband made their home in Norwich for many years and in 1968 they moved to Earlville where she worked for the American Management Association (AMA) and later for Saddelbrook.
Marcia is survived by her children M. Elaine Johnson and husband Eugene of Findley Lake, NY, Jean Zieno and husband Augustine of Norwich, Janice Miles also of Norwich, Allen Owen and wife Theresa of Earlville and Barbara Sleight and husband William of Galway, NY; her grandchildren Jacqueline Zukowski and husband Charles, Jennifer Dykes and husband Charles, Mark Zieno and wife Deborah, Kimberly Babcock and husband Christopher, Stephen Zieno and wife Jennifer, Gregg Huggins and wife Trudy, Lisa Colabelli and husband Martin, Kevin Miles and wife Michele, Jason Owen and wife Serena, Jeanne Macumber and husband Rich, Travis Sleight and wife Sarah and Brandon Sleight and wife Michelle. Also surviving are 18 great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nices and great nephews.
Besides her husband Norburn, Marcia was predeceased by her sister Grace Stuck, her brothers John and Ivan Scheuerman and her son-in-law Ron Miles.
Funeral services for Marcia will be held on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 2 p.m. from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Stephen Reese, Pastor of the Columbus Community Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the Lambs Corners Cemetery of South Edmeston.
Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m.
