Florence Burrows Schultz


NORWICH – Florence Mae Burrows Schultz passed away September 15, 2013 at the age of 102 at Chase Memorial Nursing in New Berlin. Her granddaughter, Janet, was by her side.
Florence was born in West Middlesex, PA to Oliver and Lizzie (Shirk) Burrows on March 2, 1911. She graduated from West Middlesex High school in 1929. She married Thomas Schultz on December 12, 1933. Thomas died in 2003, ending a marriage of 69 years. They traveled to North Sanford, NY early in 1934 where they operated a farm. Florence was a homemaker and partner with her husband until his passing. She then moved to Grace View Manor in Norwich, NY where she resided until February of 2013 at which time she moved to Pratt-Newton in Sherburne, NY until July 2013.
Florence was an active member of the North Sanford United Methodist Church from 1934 until her move in 2003. She was predeceased by her husband, her parents and her eleven siblings. She is survived by two daughters and one son, Norma and Earl Boyd of Morris, NY; Beverly and Tom Connor of Fleetwood, PA; and Dahl and his wife Barbara Howard of Naples, NY. Also eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. A sister, Lena Showman of Lowellville, Ohio, also survives, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris. A private burial will be held at Hillington Cemetery in Morris.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Sanford United Methodist church in c/o Rev. Sharon Harris, 34 N. Shore Dr., Brackney, PA 18812, or to the Thomas and Florence Schultz scholarship fund at Deposit Central School DEEP, Inc. P.O. Box 22, Deposit, NY 13754.
