BAINBRIDGE – Joyce Nell (nee Rosa) Cardozo, 72, of Bainbridge, died Monday, September 16, 2013.
She was born to Florence and Bill Rosa on June 19, 1941 in Bainbridge, NY. She graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1959 and received her LPN nursing license in 1971.
Having married and spent much time in various locations, in 1985, she returned to Bainbridge to continue raising her children and to be with her mother. She worked as a nurse at The Hospital in Sidney and The Vet’s Home in Oxford. Upon retiring from The Hospital in 2005, she continued working for the B-G school district part time until 2008.
Joyce leaves her mother, Florence Rosa, her brother and sister-in-law, James and Donna, her sister and brother-in-law, Jeanne and John, her children: Bill, Wendy, Laurie and Manny, her step-children: Lisa, JoAnn and Jerome, fifteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many loving friends who were her extended family.
She was predeceased by her father, Bill Rosa, her sister, June, and her daughter, Patty.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to Catholic Charities.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2013 at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Bainbridge, NY. Condolences and memories may be shared with the family online at www.landersfh.com.
