Erma Marble


GUILFORD – Erma H. Marble, 92, of Guilford, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 30, 2013 in Walton, NY. Erma was born on August 26, 1921, daughter of the late Alfred and Margaret (Hoyt) Hauschild in Warren, Pennsylvania. She married Byron S. Marble on March 28, 1948 in the United Methodist Church of Sidney. She and Barney shared 58 wonderful years of marriage until he predeceased her on November 12, 2006.
Erma was a long time employee of Amphenol Corporation in Sidney, working as an office clerk until her retirement. She was a devoted member of the Guilford Center Presbyterian Church where she will be remembered for her amazing cookies and baking. Erma was also active in the Guilford Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary and she enjoyed bowling. The most important things in her life were her family and her faith.
Erma is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, David and Louise Sager of Belleview, FL and her brother-in-law, Lee Cross of Belleview, FL, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, great-grand nieces and nephews and great-great-grand nieces and nephews.
In addition to her beloved husband, Erma was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Helen Hauschild; sister and brother-in-law, Thelma and Paul Curtis; sister and brother-in-law, Rose Miller Casta and Donald Miller; and sister, Margaret Ann Cross.
The family would like to thank the dedicated Hospice nurses for their supportive care and friendship.
Friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the East Guilford Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will immediately follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Bainbridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Erma’s name may be directed to Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care, 1 Birchwood Drive, Oneonta, NY 13820.
