Nicholas Collins


PLYMOUTH – Nicholas S. Collins, 23, of County Route 16, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 16, 2013 at the SUNY Health Science Center, Syracuse, following a lengthy illness. At the time of his passing, his beloved wife and family were at his side.
He was born on June 14, 1990, in Cortland, the son of Steve Schaap and Linda Collins. Nick graduated from Otselic Valley Central School and later attended SUNY Morrisville. On August 3, 2012, in Plymouth, he married Kristi Relyea. Nick had worked at the Express Mart in Morrisville. He was an avid mechanic and could fix anything with motors. He loved four-wheeling, snowmobiling and mudding with his truck, pictured. Nick was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was especially excited about the arrival of his and Kristi’s baby boy due to be born in November.
Nicholas is survived by his loving wife, Kristi; his mother, Linda Collins, of Marathon; his father, Steve Schaap, of Plymouth; his maternal grandfather, Kirk McKay, of Cortland; his paternal grandmother, Marion Schaap, of Norwich; two sisters and brother-in-laws, Rachell and Ronny Marshall of South Otselic and Danielle and Eric Luke of Syracuse; two special nieces, Elizabeth and Mindy, and a special nephew, Kameron. Nick is also survived by numerous in-laws, cousins, aunts, uncles, siblings and friends.
Family and friends are invited to call from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013, at the Paul Funeral Home, 3592 South Street, Madison. Funeral and internment will be private.
