Lynn Ross


OXFORD – Lynn "Pinky" Ross, 85, of Oxford, passed away on August 18, 2013 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich. He was born on March 27, 1928 in Oxford a son of the late Allen and Laura (Fuller) Ross. On November 10, 1945, in Oxford, he married Alice Cox, who survives.
Pinky had worked most of his career for the Emerson Company in Oxford. He was a long time member of the Oxford Fire Department having started as a member of the Oxford Hook & Ladder Company. He enjoyed camping at Black Lake and Old Forge. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Besides his wife, Alice, he is survived by his children and spouses:  Edward (Lois) Ross, Rosemary (Donald) Blackman, Donna (James) Garruto, Betsy (Norman) Smith, Virginia (Milton) Blackman, Lynn (Susan) Ross, Laura Monk, Michael Ross, Barbara (Rodney) Blackman, and Debbie (Brian) Burt; his brothers:  Clifford "Chuck" Ross and Donald (Grace) Ross; his brother-in-law: William Harvey; and his sister-in-laws: Jane Ross, Amy Ross, and Donna Ross. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was predeceased by his son, Ronald Ross; his grandson: James Garruto; his brothers: Albert Ross, Gerald Ross, and Clifton (Jack) Ross; his sisters: Bernice Baker and Mabel Harvey; his sister-in-laws:  Marion Ross, Marie Ross, and Mary Lou Christian; his brother-in-laws: Richard Baker and Donald Christian.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Behe Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main Street, Oxford, NY with Richard Howard, Chaplain of the Oxford Fire Department officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.
