NORWICH – Virginia “Honey” Maiurano, 78, of Norwich, passed away August 11, 2013 at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, NY. She was born on May 15, 1935 in Oswego, NY a daughter of the late George and Jennie Frances (Sidote) Yacano.
She is survived by her husband, Francis P. “Bill” Maiurano of Norwich; her children, Francis “Frank” Maiurano Jr., Joseph P. Maiurano, Catherine Warner, and Virginia (Ginny) Allen; her grandchildren, Jennifer Palmer, David Allen, Becky Allen, Maria Maiurano, Concetta Maiurano, Virginia Maiurano; and her great grandchildren, Katarina Palmer, Andrew Palmer, and Tristan Palmer and great great granddaughter, Rallen; her brother, George Yacano and her sister Frances Armstrong. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She will be deeply missed by her family that was so important to her.
Honey was a graduate of Norwich High School. She and Bill had operated Maiurano’s Flower Shop for many years. She also operated Maiurano’s Christmas Shop for many years. She was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Roman Catholic Church.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at St. Bartholomew’s Roman Catholic Church, East Main St., Norwich. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Norwich.
