Lahoma Franklin


NORWICH – LaHoma M. Franklin, 80, of Marshfield, Wis., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at the Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital, in Marshfield.
LaHoma was born on June 23, 1933 in Norwich the daughter of Frank Eugene and Clarabell Rose (Bowers) Hendrickson. She grew up in the Chenango County area and on Jan. 27, 1950 in Norwich she married Erford J. Franklin. After their marriage the Franklins farmed in the Chenango County area where their children were born. In 1969 they moved to Wisconsin where they raised their family and continued to farm in the Town of McMillan.
LaHoma enjoyed painting, reading, writing and sewing.
LaHoma is survived by her husband, Erford, and their children, Sheryl Lynn (Jerome) Johnson, Erford John II “Jack” (the late Darlene) Franklin, Karyl Leigh (Walter) Hamelink, Jaye Robert (Kay) Franklin all of Marshfield, Jeffry Olen (Kay) Franklin of Williamsport, IN, Joel Eugene (Cindy) Franklin of Marshfield, Jordan Owen (Melanie) Franklin of Spencer and Jason Loyal (Jacque) Franklin of Medford. She is also survived by 33 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother, Hayden (Jane) Hendrickson of Apalachin, NY.
LaHoma was predeceased by her parents; her sisters, Wilma, Delores and Edith; and a daughter-in-law, Darlene.
Funeral services for LaHoma will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15 from the Preston United Methodist Church. The Rev. Lawrence Russell, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in the J.D. Lewis Cemetery of Preston.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Preston United Methodist Church on Thursday.
