Albert Monroe


SMYRNA – Albert R. Monroe, 77, of Flat Iron Rd., passed away Monday, August 5, 2013 at University Hospital, Syracuse.
Albert was born May 16, 1936 in Norwich, a son of the late Raymond and Pearl Fomsbee Monroe. He attended Sherburne schools and in 1990, proudly attained his GED. On August 24, 1963, Albert married Bonnie L. Goodfellow in Clark Summit, PA. He was a tractor trailer driver for most of his life, and had been a school bus driver for Sherburne-Earlville Central School for twelve years until retiring. Albert was a member of the NRA and he enjoyed restoring John Deere tractors. He was a devoted family man who spent his favorite times with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Bonnie; his children, William and Velma Monroe of Fort Orchard, WA; Brenda and Dana Strobel of Norwich; David and Tricia Monroe of Charlotte, NC; Tracy and Scott Novotny of Cedar Rapids, IA; Sandy and Ben Sampson of WA; Debbie Mirabito of Norwich; Linda and Mike Kane of CA; a sister, Pearl Cleveland of Sherburne; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gordon and Ann Monroe of Charlotte, NC; Don and Peg Monroe of Norwich; seven grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In keeping with Albert’s wishes, there are no services or calling hours.
Interment will be private at the convenience of his family.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the Smyrna Fire Department.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
