Rupert Alderman


SMYRNA – Rupert C. Alderman, 85, long-time Smyrna resident, passed away Friday morning, Feb. 2, 2007 at his home.
Born in Hamilton on June 20, 1921, Rupert was the son of Charles D. and Grace (Troop) Alderman. He grew up in Hamilton and after graduating from Hamilton High School, worked briefly as a truck driver for Misch. He subsequently worked for O.G. Jenks Oil Burner Service, as well as for Bundy Concrete for a short time. Most of his working years were spent in the employ of the I. L. Richer Company. Working out of the Sherburne plant, he delivered feed to area farmers, and retired in 1983. Following his retirement, he and his wife enjoyed spending summers camping at Lebanon Reservoir.
On Oct. 20, 1944, Rupert married Dorothy Wright. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Alderman of Smyrna; by his special niece and nephew whom he raised as his own, Sherri Rundell and husband Bob of Sherburne and Scott Tredway and wife Becky of Smyrna; by his niece. Lisa Ostendorff of Smyrna; by great nieces and nephews: Renee Stowell and husband Harlie of Smyrna, Jason Tredway and companion Lisa of Smyrna, Tyler and Ashley Rundell, and Kayla Ostendorff; and by great great niece and nephew, Madisyn and Mytchell Stowell. Rupert is also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Mildred Tredway of Smyrna, Barb Wright of Sherburne, Bob and Connie Wright of Smyrna, Charles Wright of Sherburne, Barbara and Wayne Campbell of Smyrna, and W. Richard and Sue Wright of Sherburne, as well as several other nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by brothers-in-law, Jessie (Jake) Tredway and Clarence (Stinky) Wright.
Funeral and committal services for Rupert were held at noon on Monday, Feb. 5, from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. George W. Gallandorm, pastor of the Smyrna United Methodist Church, officiated. Interment was in Graham Cemetery of Hubbardsville. Friends paid their respects at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
