Martha Kenyon


CINCINNATUS – Martha M. (Hathaway) Kenyon, 68, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2013, at her home, while surrounded by her family.
Martha was born in Smithville Flats, NY on March 6, 1945, a daughter of the late Charles and Mildred Temple Hathaway. A longtime resident of this area, she served as the Postmaster for the Willet Post Office for several years until her retirement. She was a member of the Smithville Flats First Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School in her earlier years. Active in her community, she was a founding member of the Willet Community Group. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Gail (Mark) Kenyon of German, Valerie (Jeff) Kenyon of South Otselic, Carey (Chris) Kenyon of Pitcher, and Jill (Bill) Tobias of Cincinnatus. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Ashley, Bradley, and Christopher Burke, Hailee and Samantha Marshall, and Jessica and Brooke Tobias; a great-granddaughter, Adyson Mae Burke; sisters, Barbara Simpson of Smithville Flats and Shirley (Richard) Pember of Willet; and brothers, Charles (Pat) Hathaway of South Otselic and Ray (Lisa) Hathaway of McDonough.
In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Vernon “Pop” Kenyon, Jr. on January 23, 2013; and a brother, Jack Hathaway.
A graveside service will be held at the Willet Cemetery at 7 p.m. on July 19, 2013, with Jeanne Angell officiating. There will be no prior calling hours or funeral service.
