Charlene Frear


MASONVILLE – Charlene E. Frear, 70, of Masonville, passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon, June 13, 2013 at the Norwich Rehab and Nursing Center surrounded by her loving family. Charlene was born on July 11, 1942, daughter of the late Theodore and Emma (LeSuer) Edwards in Franklin. She was a graduate of Delaware Institute Academy in Franklin, and a long time employee as a molder at Amphenol Corp. in Sidney.
On July 26, 1980, Charlene was married to Kenneth Frear in Sidney. They shared 32 happy years together. She was a dedicated member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Sidney, teaching Vacation Bible School and serving with the Angel Food Ministry. Quick witted with an infectious laugh, Charlene had an incredible sense of humor. Like a ray of sunshine, her smile would light up any room. She loved to read as well as travel. Charlene was very friendly and would make friends wherever she went. She was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.
Charlene is survived by her husband, Kenneth Frear, Masonville; five children, Wayne and Sonia Hall, Afton, Sharon and Glen Cutting, Sidney, Cindy and Steve Bump, Milford, CT, Debbie and Patrick Ford, Norwich, Michael and Melanie Hall, San Antonio, TX; grandchildren Jared, Austin, Matthew, Robert, Samuel, Emily and Meredith; great-granddaughter Rori; four brothers, Ted and Mart Edwards, Sidney; John and Pat Edwards, Osprey, FL; Ron Edwards, Guilford, and Rick and Bonney Edwards, Sidney; one sister, Sandy Mertz, Unadilla; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family
In addition to her parents, Charlene was predeceased by her sister, Donna Brazie, and brother, George Edwards.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on June 17, 2013 at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 6 Circle Drive, Sidney, NY 13838. Donna Steckline, Chaplain for Chenango County Hospice, will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Masonville Cemetery, Masonville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Charlene’s memory may be directed to Hospice & Palliative Care of Chenango County, 21 Hayes Street Norwich, NY 13815. Charlene’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Norwich Rehab and Nursing Center for the love and devotion shown to Charlene, and the care and compassion shown to her family throughout Charlene’s illness.
