James Naylor


SHERBURNE – James L. Naylor, 77, of Classic Street, died on Jan. 25, 2007 at Hamilton’s Community Memorial Hospital while his loving family was at his side following a courageous battle against cancer.
He was born in Athens, New York, the son of the late Thomas and Ethel Faulkner Naylor.
On June 28, 1954, at the Guilford United Methodist Church, Jim married Norma McMullen. He had been an equipment operator for the New York State Department of Transportation with over 26 years of service, retiring in 1987. He later worked for many years at Handsome Brook Sales, where he was known as “the jack” of all trades. Jim also had worked as an independent carpenter and a landscaper.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Norma, three daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Mike Albertina of Sherburne, Debbie and Jim Shoales of Norwich, and Deana and Rocky Johnson of Sherburne, a son, Jim Naylor and his fiancée, Kim Decker of Sherburne, Jim’s special children, Sera and her husband, Nate Kolet of Norwich, and Sandy Beeching of Norwich, his sisters; Dora, Nancy, and Jennie, 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Jim’s life to be held on Saturday, Feb. 3, from 1-4 p.m. at the Sherburne American Legion Post 876. A graveside service for Jim will be held at a later date at Sherburne West Hill Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Paul Funeral Home of Madison.
