Stephen Campbell



SMYRNA – Stephen K. Campbell, 63, of Howard Hill Rd., passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at his home.
Steve was born March 25, 1950 in New Berlin, a son of the late Kenneth W. and Fredora Myers Campbell. He was a graduate of Sherburne High School and attended SUNY Morrisville. On June 5, 1970, Stephen married Daralynn S. Krohn in Smyrna. A lifelong Smyrna resident, Steve was a dairy farmer and had also worked at Sherburne-Earlville Central School as a bus driver, and later as a custodian for more than 26 years, until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid fan of the NY Yankees, Giants and Syracuse University teams. He was active with and very supportive of the wrestling program at Sherburne-Earlville, as well as all the other Sherburne- Earlville Sports programs.
Steve was a dedicated member of his community where he served on the Town Council, and was a member of the Smyrna Fire Department for many years.
Surviving are his wife, Daralynn; father-in-law, Stanley Krohn of Smyrna; his sons, Robert, Dana Campbell, all of Smyrna; two daughters and a son-in-law, Devon Campbell, Katie and Craig Harvey, all of Smyrna; grandchildren, Tyler, Tanner, Tegan and Alexander Campbell, and Mykayla Harvey; sisters, Sally Merrill of Sherburne; Kristene Campbell and David Crugnale of Norwich; brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Barbara Campbell of Smyrna; step-brothers and step-sisters, Harlie and Martha Stowell, Peggy and Gerald Fleming, and Sally Stackhouse, all of Smyrna; Shirley and Paul Atwell of New Berlin; step-brother-in-law, Ronald Harvey of Smyrna; and an “adopted” brother, Ken Hynes of Matawan, NJ; three aunts and an uncle, Dorothy and Gerald Green of Unadilla; and Bonnie Frink of North Norwich; and Eva Campbell of Lebanon. Also surviving many nieces, nephews and cousins and a dear friend Janet Middleton, as well as his extended family, Richard Bacon, John Doe, Paul Mirra, Leon Horton and George Germano. Steve was predeceased by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Lee Campbell, William and Marla Campbell; brother-in-law, Richard Merrill; and two nephews Rick Merrill and Darren Masker; mother-in-law, Betty Krohn; his step-mother, Zella Campbell; a step-sister, Betty Harvey; step-brother-in-law, Raymond Stackhouse; “adopted” brother, Edward Hynes; and a dear friend, Marvin Chesebro.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, followed by interment in the Willcox Cemetery, Smyrna.
Friends are invited to call from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
