Golda Button


NORWICH – Golda E. “Rusty” Button, 74, of Norwich, passed away Monday morning, April 29, 2013 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Rusty was born in Plymouth on Dec. 2, 1938 the daughter of William H. and Ruth Shepard Davis. She has spent her entire life in the Chenango County area and attended the local schools. Rusty had been employed by the C&U Telephone Co. where she started as an operator and later worked at the Sherburne office until she retired. Over the years she had also worked at Taco, the Norwich Shoe Factory, as well as a waitress for Taylor’s Country House.
In her spare time, Rusty enjoyed playing shuffleboard, bowling, socializing and traveling. She liked listening to and singing country music and had a soft spot in her heart for her feline friends. In her earlier years she was an active member of the Women of the Moose.
Rusty is survived by her daughter, Kelly Campbell and husband Ken of Norwich; her son, Daniel Davis and wife Judy of Woodbridge, VA; her sister, Gloria Whiteman and husband Harold of Norwich; her grandchildren, Shawna Edwards and husband Richard of North Syracuse, Ken Campbell III of Norwich, Daniel Davis Jr. and wife Kate of Iowa, Adam Davis and wife Robyn of VA, and Kayley Davis, also of VA. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Jacob, Daniel, Jude, Emily, Ashton and Olivia, along with nieces and nephews.
Rusty was predeceased by her brother Albert Davis.
A celebration of Rusty’s life will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the R. J. Fahy Funeral Home on Sunday from 1:30 to the time of the service at 2:30 p.m.
