Myra Harp


NORWICH – Myra E. Harp, 88, a life-long Norwich resident, passed away Friday evening, April 26, in the New York State Veterans Home of Oxford, where she has made her home for the past ten years.
Myra was born in Norwich on Sept. 27, 1924 the daughter of Stanley A. and Ada M. Chantler Crawley. She grew up in Norwich and was a graduate of the Norwich schools. On Aug. 7, 1943 in Norwich, she married LeRoy F. Harp who passed away March 7, 1987.
Devoted to her family, Myra’s main focus in life was to care for her five daughters. She was a very giving and caring individual who enjoyed doing for others. A longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Norwich, she had been very active in many of the church’s functions and activities. Myra was very passionate about spending time at the family “camp” on the bank of the Unadilla river in Mt. Upton.
Myra is survived by her daughters, Rev. Clara M. White and husband Barrie of Milwaukee, WI; Suzan I. Mulder and husband James of Reading, VT; her sisters Jane Meyers of Ocala, FL and Sarah R. Sharpe, of Norwich; and her brothers Stanley W. Crawley of Salt Lake City, UT and Paul K. Crawley of NC. Also surviving are her seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, her son-in-law Ronald Lionetti of Virginia Beach, VA, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband LeRoy, Myra was predeceased by her daughters Dorothy Lionetti, Jacalyn L. Harp and Kathryn I. Eckel.
Funeral services for Myra will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday from the First Baptist Church of Norwich. The Rev. David Spiegel, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery of Mt. Upton. There will be no calling hours.
