John Glasbergen


SHERBURNE – John Glasbergen, 85, of South Main Street, passed away April 13, 2013 at Chase Memorial Nursing Home, New Berlin, NY.
He was born September 1, 1927 in Schenectady, NY, a son of John and Elizabeth DeLaat Glasbergen. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in Schenectady, and then from Sienna College. John married Florence who predeceased him in 2002. He married Jacquelyn M. Osborne on July 10, 2004 in Poolville. John was an accountant who had worked in New York City, and for T.A.C.O. in Sherburne. He also worked in sales at NSA, and was Vice President of the Norwich Shoe Factory. Following his retirement, he was a substitute teacher in the Sherburne-Earlville Central School District. One of John’s passions and joy in his life was his service to the Boy Scouts of America. For many years, John helped mold young men into the compassionate and learned people they are today because of his dedication to this group.
Surviving are his wife, Jacquelyn; two sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Toni Glasbergen, Randy and Karen Glasbergen, all of Sherburne; step-children, Charlene and Brian Newswander of NJ; Mark Batson and Malcolm Batsom, Jr., both of MI; a brother, Gene Glaseren Glasbergen of FL; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, followed by burial in West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, or to the Alzheimers Association.
