Donna Carhart

NORWICH – Donna Jean Carhart, 67, of Sherburne, died Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was born May 21, 1945 in Norwich, the daughter of Chester and Marie Diamond Jones.
Donna attended South New Berlin Central School. She was a hard worker and worked many jobs including the Norwich Shoe Factory, Jamesway, the Blue Jay Diner and the Quickway. She was employed as the lead roaster at Price Chopper, retiring from there in 2005. At Price Chopper, she met many friends and would often tell of her friends’ lives. She would tell us about Bob’s daughter’s wedding and, when we asked her, “Bob who,” she would simply say “You know my friend Bob from Price Chopper who came in every Tuesday for lunch with his wife.” She had no idea what Bob’s last name was.
Donna enjoyed gardening, Facebook, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing Bingo, and putting together puzzles with her new friend, Joyce. Full of life and laughter until the very end, Donna was found singing karaoke just days before her passing.
She is survived by her two daughters, Tammy Brazee and Dawn (David) Wenzel of Sherburne; three grandchildren, Marissa (Edward) Fall, Zachary Wenzel and Jordan Wenzel; two great-grandchildren, Eddie and Westyn; two sisters, Elizabeth Ippie (Daniel) Spencer of Norwich and Elaine (Kitt) Amaritinant of Brandon, FL; a brother, Douglas (Donna) Jones of Canastota; her aunt, foster sisters Cindy and Dawn, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased in death by her parents, Chester and Marie Jones; a son-in-law, George Brazee; and a nephew, Chester Spencer.
Funeral services for Donna will be held at 6 p.m. Friday from the R. J. Fahy Funeral Home. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday.
Donna’s family would like to thank the staff of Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for their compassion and love shown to mom these past few months. They would also like to thank Hospice for their services.
