Robert Baker


OXFORD – Robert E. Baker Sr., 80, of Oxford, passed away on April 9, 2013. He was born on June 23, 1932 in Johnson City, NY to Charles and Lillian (Dufford) Baker. He married Pamela (Smith) Baker on July 17, 1983 in Guilford, NY.
He is survived by his wife Pamela Baker; his son Robert Baker Jr. and wife Ileen of Emory, UT; his son Charles Baker and Rachael Schultes of Milford, PA; daughter Betty Leahy and Jim Somers of Plymouth, NY; daughter Michelle Baker and Toni Miller of Wall, PA; and daughter Christi Baker and John Jordan of Oxford, NY; his brother David Baker and his sister Jane Baker; grandchildren Chad, Dillon, Nichole and Eli; great-grandchildren Caleb and Kaydence; as well as several nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his parents, his son William, and his daughter Denise.
Robert was an avid fisherman who also enjoyed hunting. He worked as a welder for seventeen years at the Raymond Corporation in Greene, NY. He was a top salesman for Cutco, worked in sales for Rawleigh Products, and also sold cars for Smith-Ford in Norwich, NY. Robert was a member of the Canasawacta Valley Free Methodist Church in Norwich, and enjoyed singing in various quartets.
Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at the Canasawacta Valley Free Methodist Church, 4299 State Hwy. 23, Norwich, NY, with Rev. Neil Bendixen officiating. The family will receive friends at the Canasawacta Valley Free Methodist Church on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. prior to the service. A private burial will take place at Warn Ten Broeck Cemetery in Oxford. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1406 Monroe Street, Endicott, NY 13760.
