Ella Hall


NEW BERLIN – Ella F. Hall, 88, formerly of Ketchum Road. New Berlin, passed away Saturday afternoon, Jan. 27, 2007, in the Gilmour Health Care Facility, where she had resided in recent months.
Born in Dutch Valley in the Town of Edmeston on Nov. 22, 1918, Ella was the daughter of William and Edna (Ward) Rogers. She and her husband, James Hall, were long-time residents of Ketchum Road in New Berlin, where Ella enjoyed baking and cooking. She also worked outside the home, first as an egg candler in Edmeston and later for Steve Regal’s farm in Barret’s Comers, and then as a seamstress at the Richfield Dress Factory in Richfield Springs. A lady who loved children, she had taken in children and raised them as her own.
Ella is survived by her children: Larry Hall Sr. of Smyrna, Lesley Hall of West Burlington, Mary Ann Burdick of Arkansas, Lillian Crandall of Norwich, Nate Thompson of Burlington Flats, and Bill Hollingbeck of Carthage; and by many grand, great grand, and great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers: Walter Rogers of Sherburne, Aaron Rogers of Preston, Andy Ward, and Howard Ward of Almont; by her sisters: May Tarbox of Florida, Mildred Dixson of Gilbertsville, Edna Tarbox of Jordanville, Marie Taylor of New Berlin, and Vaneena Bain of New Lisbon; by her long-time companion, Edgar Pope; and by several nieces and nephews. Ella was predeceased by her husband James in April of 1988; by her sons Jimmy and Lewis Hall; her brothers, Milton, Tom and Ray Ward; and by her sister, Mabel Rogers.
Graveside funeral services for Ella will be held in the spring in the Burlington Flats Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
