Phillip Fowlston


NORWICH – Phillip H. Fowlston, 61, a life-long Norwich resident, passed away Wednesday morning, March 27, 2013 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Phil was born in Norwich on Aug. 14, 1951 the son of Homer and Edith Donnelly Fowlston. He attended the Norwich schools and has spent his entire life in the Norwich area. Over the years, Phil worked for Red-D-Pak in North Norwich and the Dunckel Egg Farm. A NASCAR enthusiast, his favorite driver was Earnhardt and he was also an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills. Over the years, Phil had made a hobby of collecting bottles and cans.
Phil is survived by his children, Sally Straight and her significant other Milton Brooks, Terrence Fowlston and fiancee Sheena Howe, Phillamena Bates and husband Thomas, and Samantha Fowlston, all of Norwich; Nichole Strain and Daytona Fowlston, also of Norwich; the mother of his children, Nina Carson, his sisters Mary King and Marjorie Chalifoux, and husband Richard; his brothers Richard Fowlston and wife Marla of Syracuse; Frankie Fowlston and wife Kim of Plymouth; Francis Fowlston and wife Audrey of Rome; Roger Fowlston of Auburn; Homer Fowlston III of Norwich; Jim Fowlston and wife Chris of Norwich; and John Fowlston and wife June, also of Norwich. Also surviving are sixteen grandchildren, one great grandchild, his son-in-law Brad Straight, and Ricky Donnelly who he thought of as his own son.
Phil was predeceased by his parents Edith and Homer, his son Phillip Jr., his brother Martin David Fowlson and his grandson Adam Bates.
Funeral services for Phil will be held at noon on Saturday from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Earlville, will officiaiate.
Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Interment will be at a later date in the Donnellyville Cemetery.
