Helen Stawitz

NORWICH – Helen Mott Stawitz, 93, of Norwich, passed away Jan. 22, 2007.
Born in Brooklyn, she lived for many years in Southold and Troy before moving to the Norwich area.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, William Stawitz & Carolyn Stawitz of Camp Hill, Pa. and Stanton Mott & Millie Mott of Nashville, Tenn. along with grandchildren, Nancy & Eric Stawitz and Jonathan Mott.
Helen was preceded in death by parents, Gladys and Stanton Mott, brother Overton Mott and husband, Ernest W. Stawitz.
At her side at her passing was beloved friend Ruth Varley of Niskayuna. During Helen’s last years in Norwich, she was blessed to be in the care of the Chenango Valley Home, the United Methodist Home Gilmour Campus and left this world attended by the wonderful nursing staff and caregivers at The New York State Veterans’ Home. Our family’s thanks and prayers go to them for all they did for her in her final days and to the Ministry of the Reverend William Day and his wife, Betty.
As Helen’s husband, Ernest, was a World War II Veteran, it was her wish to join him in Arlington Cemetery in Washington, D.C. Funeral service arrangements can be had by calling William Stawitz at (717) 443-6129 or the Reverend William Day at (607) 336-6769.
A Memorial Srevice will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Emanuel Episcopal Church, West Main Street, Norwich.
In lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Chenango Valley Home, 24 Canasawacta St., Norwich, NY 13815.
