Donald Vanwagner


COLUMBUS – S. Donald Van Wagner, 90, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013 at the Community Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility in Hamilton.
He was born May 20, 1922 in the Town of Sherburne, a son of Benjamin and Elva Smith Van Wagner and was a graduate of Sherburne High School. He was a hard working, self-employed dairy farmer in Columbus his entire life until his retirement. He was also a salesman for Nachurs Fertilizer Co., where he did custom combining for many area farmers. Following his retirement from farming, he formed the “Digger Don” Co., doing backhoe service, small excavating and grave digging. He had also worked for Sickler Memorials in New Berlin. Donald married C. Irene Larkin who predeceased him in 1991. He was a member of the Columbus Quarter Church and the Eastern Milk Producers Assoc.
Surviving are his children, Linda and Raymond Willard of Canandaigua; Donald and Joyce Van Wagner of Columbus; Lyn and Deb Van Wagner of Rochester; Kevin and Lynette Van Wagner of Dallas, TX; daughter-in-law Pamela Van Wagner of Syracuse; several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Barry Van Wagner; sisters, Dorothy Winter and Gertrude Marks; and brothers, Robert, Roy, Jay and Benjamin Van Wagner.
Graveside Services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Columbus Corners Cemetery, South Edmeston,.
There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
