Helen Pasachnik

SHERBURNE – Helen Alice Kenyon Pasachnik, 85, formerly of Summit St., passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 at the Community Memorial Hospital, Skilled Nursing Facility, in Hamilton.
The daughter of Ruth (Coleman) and Victor Per Lee Kenyon, Helen was born in Sherburne on Sept. 24, 1927. A proud direct descendant of Mayflower Passengers Elizabeth Tilley and John Howland, and first cousin to President Woodrow Wilson, Helen’s lineage can be traced to many of the earliest settlers of Chenango County. Helen graduated from Sherburne High School and went on to achieve her degree from Morrisville State College. She spent her entire career in devoted advocacy to residents of the area. Helen was Deputy Clerk of the Board of Supervisors of Chenango County, and Deputy County Auditor, for nearly two decades. She will be remembered for her tireless and enthusiastic support for the needs of scores of individuals, and numerous agencies, all dedicated to servicing the poor and disenfranchised of the area. Helen was a lifelong member of the Christ Episcopal Church in Sherburne, as were her parents.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan and Linda Pasachnik, and her granddaughter, Stesha Pasachnik, Ph.D. Helen was predeceased by her husband Michael F. Pasachnik and her sister Janice (Kenyon) Wright.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no funeral service or calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the Episcopal Church Cemetery in Sherburne at a date to be determined.
Helen had been a strong proponent of the Rogers Environmental Education Center, since its inception. In lieu of flowers, tribute gifts to the Friends of Rogers Environmental Center, Inc., Box 932, Sherburne, NY 13460, would be warmly appreciated.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
