Jean Dungey


NORWICH – Jean M. Dungey, 57, of Norwich, passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013 at Chase Memorial Nursing Home in New Berlin.
She was born Oct. 24, 1955 daughter of the late John J. and Marilynn (Alford) Amorella in Sidney.
Jeannie as she was affectionately called grew up and graduated from Bainbridge Guilford High School in 1973. She worked for a short time at Bida’s Adult home in Oxford, and then was a dedicated employee at Chenango Memorial Hospital for 22 years.
Jeannie was a devout Christian and was known for her deep faith and involvement musically in area churches. Jeannie thoroughly felt honored when she was a big part of church service at Chase Nursing Home. She so loved the staff and residents and referred to them as “friends.” Jeannie was well known for the poems she often distributed to lift a spirit or offer encouragement. Jeannie had a soft spot in her heart for animals, especially dogs. Jeannie’s loved ones would like to express a special sincere thank you to the staff at Chase for their love and constant compassionate care for Jeannie.
She is survived by a daughter, Cori Walley and Kevin Duell, South New Berlin; grandchildren Joshua, Jeffrey, Jillian and Jaidan; sisters Linda and David Martin, VA and Julia and Gene Errera, Delaware. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and many wonderful friends also survive.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel 21 Main St., Sidney. Funeral Services will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Bainbridge at a later date.
