Mary Price


NORWICH – Mary J. Price, 80, of Norwich, passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, in the Wilson Regional Medical Center of Johnson City.
Mary was born in Norwich on May 2, 1932 the daughter of Grover and Edna McNitt Currie. She attended the Norwich schools and has lived in the Norwich area her entire life. Over the years Mary has worked for Tom’s Dairy Bar in Sherburne, TACO, the Norwich Shoe Co., Stefanelli’s and the Sherburne Big M. Her longest employment was with the C&U Telephone Co. and its successors working as an operator for 36 years.
Mary will be remembered as a wonderful and giving person who would open her home to anyone. Many times she would go without so others could benefit. She also was a lover of music and had written several songs, some of which were recorded.
Mary is survived by her children, Debra Mundy of Wauseon, OH, Michael Price of Norwich, her sisters Jeanette Diefenbacher, Betty Stevens and Eleanor Champlin all of Norwich, her brother Fred Currie of Norwich and her grandchildren Shane Mundy and wife DeAnn, Shawnette Beeching all of Norwich, Fawn Routson of Wauseon, OH along with 8 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Mary was predeceased by her daughter Joan Price, her sisters Hazel Husted and Judy Meyers and her brother Frank Currie.
A funeral service for Mary will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Ralph Hinman of Norwich will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Saturday from 5-6 p.m.
