Robert Richer


NORWICH – Robert Clyde Richer, 84, of Norwich, passed away Saturday, Jan.19, 2013, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Bob was born in Cortland on June 4, 1928 the son of Harley and Myrtle Timmerman Richer. He grew up in the South Otselic area and was a graduate of the local high school. A United States Marine, Bob served his country just after World War II. He had been employed by Victory Markets for 38 years as one of the company’s truck drivers and was a proud member of the Teamsters.
Bob enjoyed his summers camping in the Adirondacks and his beloved Bowman Lake.
On Nov. 21, 1953 he married Virginia Barr, who survives. Besides his wife Virginia of Norwich, Bob is survived by his children, Alan Richer and wife Kandice, Marc Richer and wife Rose and Ronald Richer and wife Janet all of Norwich, Christine Husted and husband Wayne of Sherburne and Cheryl Kerpez and husband Ken of Long Valley, N.J., his grandchildren Jennifer, Shelby, Brandon, Alisha, Marc, Robert, Carly, Kate and Jessica, his great grandchildren Tristan, Andrew, Katerina, Carter, Caden, Camden, Aubrey and his great great grandchild Raeleen. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and his brother-in-law Roger Barr.
Bob was predeceased by his daughter Cynthia Richer, his sister Doris Livermore and his brother Harley Richer Jr.
A funeral service for Bob will be held at noon on Saturday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Very Rev. Charles Taylor will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the North Norwich Cemetery.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at noon.
