Robert Bennett


EARLVILLE – Robert E. “Bob” Bennett, Sr., 76, of County Rd. 14, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at the Cornerstone Hospice, Tavares, Fla.
He was born Oct. 1, 1936 in Earlville, a son of Henry Max and Helen Horton Bennett and was a graduate of Earlville High School. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. On June 13, 1959, Robert married Beverly Bridge in Madison. Bob had worked for Amphenol, formerly Bendix, in Sidney until his retirement. For several years, Bob and Beverly have spent their winters in Florida.
Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Earlville; and the American Legion Post #236 of Earlville. He had also been a Boy Scout Master in Earlville for many years and a volunteer for the American Cancer Society.
Surviving are his wife, Beverly; children, Timothy Bennett of Earlville; Robert, Jr. and Vicky Bennett of Altoona, Fla.; Denise and Terry Johnson of Earlville; sisters-in-law, Reatha Bennett of Earlville and Shirley Bennett of Sherburne; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Jean Cook; and three brothers, Henry Max, Jr., Walter E. and Richard Bennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 3 Preston St., Earlville.
Interment with military honors will be held in the spring in the Willcox Cemetery, Town of Smyrna.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday from noon until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, a local food pantry; or a Hospice organization.
