Robert Potter


NORWICH – Robert Potter, 76, formerly of New Berlin and most recently of Norwich, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 in the Valley View Manor Nursing Home.
Bob was born Nov. 14, 1936, in Norwich, the son of Robert and Pearl Blair Potter. He attended the Norwich schools and following his education entered the United States Army. Bob served his country during the Korean War from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1957. He made his home in the New Berlin area where he operated a fruit stand and also had operated flea markets at the Chenango County Fair. He was also a member of the Norwich Township Grange.
Bob was well know in the area and was the best dad he knew how to be.
Bob is survived by his children, Timothy Potter and companion Barbara Cole of Huntington, W. Va., Peggy Wilbur and husband Bill, Robin Cleveland and husband Mike, Bobby Potter and Beth Sutton and husband Andrew all of Norwich, his step-children Justin Ryan of Norwich, Colleen Hogal and husband Ken of Norwich and Joe Ryan and wife Sara. Also surviving are his 12 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, his sister Leta Reel of Lebanon, Charlotte Symonds and husband Dennis of Huntington, W. Va., his brother Edward Potter of Norwich along with several nieces and nephews.
Bob was predeceased by his son Robert Potter, his sister Pearl Curry and his brother Paul Potter.
A funeral service for Bob will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. Interment will be at a later date in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11.
