Mabel Stagaman


SHERBURNE – Mabel Charlotte (Mueller) Stagaman, 83, of Sherburne, passed away Jan. 11, 2013 at Valley View Manor Nursing Home, Norwich. 
She was born at home in Rock City, IL, on Sept. 16, 1929. Mabel was the first born of 14 children. Mabel married William F. Stagaman in 1948 in the South Hamilton Church, Earlville. She worked at Utica knitting for 6 ½ years, Chenango Memorial Hospital 2 ½ years, Standard Brands/Chenango Pet Foods 25 years, and Norwich Eaton/Proctor & Gamble from which she retired in 1991. Mabel moved to Laurel Hill, FL in 1991. She came out of retirement and worked for 9 years at Tom Thumb Deli, retiring in 2003 at 74 yrs of age. Mabel came from an excellent blood line of a hard working family. Mabel and her siblings grew up on the family farm, knowing that it took long days of hard work to put food on the table. Imagine Dad, Mom and 14 children gathered around the table at meal time. Mabel sacrificed and worked hard all her life for her family. We will always carry your memory in our hearts.
Mabel is survived by a daughter Charlotte [Carl] Sherwood, Sherburne; one son William T. [Lynn] Stagaman, Valparaiso, FL. Seven sisters: Drusilla Losee, Sherburne; Rosetta Jaquay, Sherburne; Lillian Morgan,  Lebanon; Edna [Franklin] Johnson, Sherburne; Geneva  [Robert] Schultz, Earlville; Mildred [Lynn] Doing, Lebanon; Laurel [Dave] Jenne, Sherburne. Five grandchildren: Carla [Sherwood] Bradley, Heather Sherwood, William J. Stagaman, Tonya Stagaman, and Nicole Byrne. Seven great grandchildren: Morgan & Ondrea Bradley; Amberlie Sherwood; Jordan Carr; Caiden, Connor, & Channing Byrne; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mabel was predeceased by her husband William F. Stagaman in 1990; a son Glenn Stagaman in 2001; her parents Marybell [Hitchner] Mueller in 1977, and Frank Mueller in 1981; four brothers Raymond Muller in 1951, George Mueller in 1989, Frank A. Muller in 1999, Frederick Muller in 2006; two sisters Bertha Mueller in 1933 and Patricia Miller in 2003. 
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 3 Preston St., Earlville.
Interment will be in the Poolville Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the American Heart Assoc.; the Chenango County S.P.C.A.; or to a charity of your choice.
