Dorothy Vanderwarker


NORWICH – Dorothy VanDerwarker, 71, a life long resident of the Norwich and Oxford areas, passed away Thursday morning, Jan. 3, 2013, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Dorothy was born on July 29, 1941 in Norwich, the daughter of Charles and Sarah Coye Mowers. She grew up on the family farm in Oxford, where she attended the local schools. Most of her adult life was spent in Norwich, where she could often be seen walking with her husband Frank.
Dorothy is survived by her son Richard VanDerwarker and his wife Cindy of Norwich; her step-children, David VanDerwarker of Sauquoit, Steve VanDerwarker of Norwich, Peggy Fowlston of Sherburne and Virginia of Springfield, OH; her brother Norman Mowers and his wife Shirley of Norwich; her granddaughter Christi VanDerwarker; as well as several step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Frank, her step-children Frank Jr. and Janice, her sister Irena Hendrickson and her brother Earl Mowers.
A funeral service for Dorothy will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Earlville, will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in the Riverside Cemetery of South New Berlin.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11.
