Harold Clarkson


McDONOUGH – Harold K. Clarkson, Jr., 78, of McDonough, passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at his home in McDonough.
Born on Feb. 14, 1934 in Worcester, Mass., Harold was the son of Harold K. and Marion White Clarkson, Sr. As a young boy he made his home in Oakdale where he attended and graduated from the Major Edwards High School. Following a trip to Alaska in 1959 he came to the McDonough area where he met and married Joan Smith on Feb. 14, 1962. Together they built their home in McDonough 39 years ago. Over the years Harold had worked for Sheplers, Gorton Construction, Dunean McLein and Chenango Asphalt. His longest employment was with Victory Markets where he worked as a truck driver, which was a job he truly enjoyed, for over 17 years until they closed.
Harold was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren as well as his 3 Yorkies who he adored and proclaimed them as his “babies.” Harold enjoyed traveling to places that were warm, enjoyed good food, family dinners and barbecues.
He will be forever loved and missed so much.
Harold is survived by his ife Joan of McDonough, his children Penny Brown and husband Clayton of Norwich, Harold Clarkson III and wife RaeLinn of McDonough, Terry Clarkson and Sonya of Norwich, his brother Kenneth Clarkson and wife June of Mass., his grandchildren Joshua Miller and Kellie, Amber Miller, KC Clarkson IV, DJ Clarkson, Dominick, Vincent and Amanda Clarkson. Also surviving are his great grandchildren Kyra Whitehill, Sara Hall, Kaleb Miller and Shad Hall as well a son Mark Clarkson and wife Cindy of Mass.
A celebration of life for Harold will be held at 6 p.m. Friday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jeremy Stopford, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Earlville, will officiate.
There will be no calling hours and interment will be at the convenience of the family.
