Diane Somich


NORWICH – Diane M. Somich, 52, of Norwich, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012 with her loving family by her side.
Born March 8, 1960, in Norwich, Diane was the daughter of Frank Dolgos, who predeceased her, and Maude (Harrington) Dolgos, who survives. After graduating from Norwich High School in 1978, Diane attended Syracuse University where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree. Soon after, Diane earned a Master’s Degree in Special Education, and worked as a special education teacher in the Norwich City Schools.
On July 5, 1986, Diane married Peter Somich, in Norwich, who survives. Several years later, Diane left teaching to stay home and tend to her family. She spent the next 20 years pursuing her life’s passion of lovingly caring for her husband and two boys.
In addition to her mother and husband, Diane is survived by her sons Peter John II and Frank and her sister Debbie Phelps, her husband, Joe, of Norwich, and her brother David Dolgos, of Norwich. Diane is also survived by her mother-in-law, Dorothy Somich, of Granville; brothers-in-law and spouses Michael and Rosemary Somich, of Wake Forest, NC, Stephen and Irma Somich, of Whippany, NJ, and Thomas and Catherine Somich, of Granville; sister-in-law and spouse Marguerite and Robert Corazza, of Montville, NJ; and nieces and nephews Marissa, Brianna, Michael, Elizabeth, Stephen, Philip, MaryBeth and Nicholas.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Wilson Funeral Home, with Rev. Joe Connolly, pastor, United Church of Christ First Congregational, officiating. Burial will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery immediately following the service. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 - 7 p.m.
