Charles Boise


SHERBURNE – Charles E. Boise, 84, of County Road 23, passed away Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich.
He was born April 18, 1928 in Smyrna, a son of Walter and Henrietta Hicks Boise and was a graduate of Sherburne High School. A proud U.S. Army veteran, he served his country during the Korean Conflict. On June 29, 1952, Charles married Jean Sweet in Hamilton. Charles was a chemical operator for Norwich Eaton Pharmaceuticals, (Procter & Gamble) until his retirement. He had previously worked for the Utica Knitting Mill in Sherburne.
Charles was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sherburne. He enjoyed square dancing and belonged to clubs in New York and Florida. His favorite pastimes also included gardening, bicycling and woodworking, especially building birdhouses. His greatest accomplishment was building both of his houses.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Jean; children, Cheryl and Ken Breitenbecker of Ocala, FL; Roberta and Ken Colquitt of Butner, NC; Amy Perkowski of LaGrange, KY; Diana and Richard Schaffer of Norwich; Russell and Felicia Boise of Royston, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Bob Eccleston of Cincinnatus; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, David and Clayton Boise.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
Interment will be private at the convenience of his family.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Hospice of Chenango County or to the Sherburne Emergency Squad.
