Dorothy Bush


NORWICH – Dorothy Alma Bush, 95, a long time Norwich resident and most recently of Oneonta, passed away Friday morning, Nov. 16, 2012, in the Chestnut Park Nursing Home of Oneonta.
Dorothy was born June 7, 1917 in Mt. Upton, the daughter of Miles and Goldia Loucks Christian. She grew up on the family farm in Mt. Upton and was a 1936 graduate of the Mt. Upton High School. Choosing to further her education, she attended the Lowell Business School in Binghamton, from which she graduated in 1937. On Oct. 15, 1937 in Norwich, she married Floyd Bush, who passed away Nov. 8, 2011. Over her working career, Dorothy had worked for Chapman Turner, Bennet -Ireland, was the office manager for Dr. Hollis and Morton-Norwich.
Dorothy enjoyed life and was especially fond of spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid hunter and could keep up with the best of them whether it was deer hunting, fishing or frogging. In her quiet time she would knit and crochet or find a good card game. Over the years, Dorothy and her husband enjoyed traveling, spending winters in Florida and the camp at Gerry Lake.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Patricia Wilson and husband Glenn of New Lisbon, Janet Collins and husband Dave of Sherburne; her grandchildren, Chris Wilson and wife Kathy of Oneonta, Nichole DeMott and husband John, Danyel O’Farrell and husband Brody and Jay Collins of Yonkers. Also surviving are her great grandchildren Brad, Kyle, Kaley and Brayden along with several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband Floyd, Dorothy was predeceased by her daughter Arlien Daniels and her husband Leon; her son Harold Floyd Bush; and her brothers Miles, Earl, Gaylord and Donald Christian.
Funeral services for Dorothy will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. George Gallandorm, pastor of the Sherburne United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery of Mt. Upton.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
