NORWICH – Philip “Phil” Nolan, 66, a longtime resident of Norwich and most recently of Las Vegas, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, in Las Vegas.
Phil was born Mar. 26, 1946 in Syracuse, the son of James and Betty Nolan. He attended school in Syracuse and Norwich and graduated from Norwich High School in 1964. On July 12, 1969 he was married to his wife, Sandi.
Phil spent his life in Central NYS until relocating to Las Vegas in 2002. He was a devoted father to his son, Michael and “Papa” to his grandson, Sean. He was a 32nd degree mason. He also worked in retail and management and was a Dealer at the Turning Stone Casino. His job at the casino suited him well as he enjoyed spending his “allowance” at the local casino and playing cards and dominoes with the “ladies” at the Active Adult Center. He enjoyed meeting friends at McDonald’s for coffee, contacting new and old friends via the internet and taking vacations and cruises with his wife and best friends, Joan and Butch.
Phil is survived by Sandi, his loving wife of 43 years; son and daughter-in-law: Michael and Kelly Nolan; grandson Sean Nolan; mother Betty J Nolan; sister and brother-in-law: Nancy and Michael Gibbon; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Susan and Gary Pratt; nieces: Heather Clement and Colleen Benjamin; and great-nieces: Krislyn and Kylie Clement.
Phil was predeceased by his father, James E. Nolan and brother, James E. Nolan Jr.
A Requiem Mass will be held at St. George’s Anglican Church, 7676 Gilmore Ave. in Las Vegas on Friday, Nov. 16 at 5 p.m. There will be no calling hours.
The family requests any donations be made to St. George’s Anglican Church, Las Vegas or Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Norwich.
