David Reese

NORWICH – David B. Reese, 71, passed away on Friday, Oct.26, 2012 at the Syracuse Homes of Baldwinsville, NY after a long illness.
David was born June 3, 1941 in Norwich to Dr. William C. Reese and Margaret A. (Sweet) Reese and lived most of his life in Earlville. He was active in high school sports, 4H (raising pheasants), Boy Scouts and served as a Cub Scout assistant leader. He lifted his fair share of bales on the family farm. After graduating from Earlville Central School in 1959, he attended Paul Smith’s College in Paul Smiths. He joined the Navy in 1962, served for four years as a medical corpsman and then served in the Navy Reserves for two years. He worked as a machinist for Standard Printed Circuits in Sherburne. David enjoyed his family, friends, animals, travels and seafood subs from Gilligan’s . He never tired of learning new information and thinking about creative inventions. As one family member shared, he inspired all of us as he battled health issues... willing himself to get better so he could play pool and play the lottery.
David’s parents and infant nephew Stuart M. Easton predeceased him.
David is survived by his siblings: Clifford Reese and wife Marie of Syracuse, Malcolm Reese and wife Fran of Cary, N.C., Mary Easton of Walworth, Elizabeth Hertz and husband Richard of Anchorage, Alaska and Richard Reese and wife Mary Ellen of Walworth. In addition several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and two great great nephews, many cousins and special neighbors (his extended family) survive him.
Funeral services for David will be held at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. Interment with military honors will follow in the Sherburne West Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, 116 No. Broad St., Norwich, on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
