David Dunham


NORWICH – David I. Dunham, 72, a life long Norwich resident, passed away Saturday evening, Oct. 27, 2012, in the Wilson Regional Medical Center of Johnson City.
David was born in Norwich on Nov. 2, 1939, the son of A. Leigh and Anna Marvin Dunham. He grew up in Norwich and attended the local schools. Following his schooling, he entered the United States Army serving his country from 1961 until his honorable discharge in 1964. Returning home from the military, David gained employment with Norween, a division of the Norwich Shoe Co. where he worked for 1 1/2 yrs. In March of 1966, he went to work for Sheffield Products and its successors from which he retired in March of 1996. Following his retirement, David and his wife planned and enjoyed a 3 month trip throughout the United States. In 2006, he became a volunteer for Roots and Wings and continued with the program until his health curtailed his activities. David was also a participant of the Edge Enrichment Program and was named volunteer of the year in 2012 of the Regional Service Volunteer Program (RSVP).
On July 3, 1965 in Norwich he married Mary Jane Redfield, who survives. Besides his wife Mary Jane, David is survived by his brothers, Maurice Dunham and wife Dorothy, Albert Dunham all of Norwich and Sidney (Sid) Dunham and wife Sue of New Berlin. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.
David was predeceased by his parents A. Leigh and Anna and his brother Richard Dunham.
A memorial service for David will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Assembly of God Church of Norwich. The Rev. Dennis McKenna, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
There will be no calling hours.
