Dorothy White


NORWICH – Dorothy H. White passed away Saturday morning, Oct. 13, 2012.
She was born on June 26, 1931 in Richmond Hill, Queens. Dorothy was predeceased by her mother and father, Marge and Andy Neumann, and a step-son Scott White.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, Donald G. White, son Steven (Kay) White of Sidney, daughters Elissa (Bob) Rosa of Johnstown and Theresa Thompson of Sidney, step-son Donald A. (Susie) White, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Dorothy is also survived by her many friends, cousins, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Dorothy was a graduate of the St. Benedict Joseph Labre School in Richmond Hill, NY and attended St. Aloysious Commercial School in Brooklyn. Dorothy was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church of Bainbridge and served on the altar guild and vestry as well as being a member of the Women of St. Peter’s church group. She retired after many years of service from the Wayne Emmons Agency of State Farm Insurance in Norwich.
Dorothy loved time spent with family, as well as knitting, needlework, reading and traveling. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and making homemade pickles. Dorothy enjoyed watching classic movies, especially “Gone With The Wind,” movie trivia and memorabilia.
At Dorothy’s request, there will be no services or calling hours. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers please consider memorial contributions in her name to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Bainbridge, NY 13733.
