Marjorie Lacy


NORWICH – Marjorie Elizabeth Clarkson Lacy, 96, of Norwich, passed away Wednesday morning, Oct. 3, 2012, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Marjorie was born on March 1, 1916 in Massena, the daughter of Leslie W. and Amelia Balkwill Clarkson. She grew up in the Massena area and was a graduate of the Massena High School. On Aug. 30, 1941 in Massena, she married Lee D. Lacy, who passed away in 1982. While making her home in the Massena area, she had been employed by the Alcoa Co. and in 1960 moved with her family to Norwich. She eventually gained employment with Hamilton House.
Marjorie was a very active 50-year member of the United Church of Christ First Congregational of Norwich and was currently the second oldest member of the church. She had participated in the church’s Bible Study Group, was a member of the Women’s Fellowship Group and the Decorative Arts Board of the church. She had also been a very active member of the Chenango Memorial Hospital Auxillary where she had volunteered many hours.
Marjorie is survived by her children James Lee Lacy and wife Jeannine of Oneida, Barbara Ellen Lacy Fendsack of Norwich and Judith Ann Lacy Baker and husband Bruce of Lakewood, N.J.; her grandchildren James C. Lacy and wife Christina of Oneida, Holly Ann Spagnolo and husband Richard of VA, Kelli Curley and husband Philip of Norwich, William “BJ” Fendsack II and wife Lisa of Poland, Brian Fendsack of Albany, Katherine Skafidas and husband Michael of Warwick, Leigh Kossick and husband Mark of Ridgewood, N.J. and Lauren Jill Baker of Cranford, N.J. Also surviving are her 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband Lee, Marjorie was predeceased by her sisters Dorothy Hedgecock and Walda Crapser and her brothers Leslie and Charles Clarkson.
Private funeral services for Marjorie will be held at the United Church of Christ First Congregational of Norwich. The Rev. Dr. Joseph Connolly will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
