EARLVILLE – Eleanor C. Johnson, 90, of Fayette St., passed away Friday, Aug. 17, 2012 at the Community Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility, Hamilton.
She was born Aug. 24, 1921 in Earlville, one of seven daughters of Ernest and Nellie Gray Collins and received her education in Earlville schools. On March 29, 1941, Eleanor married Robert M. Johnson in Oriskany Falls. He predeceased her on Sept. 17, 2001. Eleanor’s life was devoted to her family and she cared for many area children over the years. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Earlville that was a large part of her life and she volunteered at the Bargain Basket Thrift Shop.
Surviving is her daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Anthony Cappadonia of Earlville; two sisters, Genevieve Fisher of Earlville and Lillian Edson of Sherrill; her grandchildren, John Cappadonia of Aurora, CO; Thomas Cappadonia and Mary Spratt of Earlville; Teresa Hanrahan of St. Cloud, FL; James Cappadonia of Mainsville, OH; Denise Brazee and Tim Thompson of Burlington Flats; great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Anthony and Sofia Cappadonia of Mainsville, OH, Alexis Brazee and Cecelia Thompson of Burlington Flats; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Cynthia Brazee in 2010; a son, Douglas R. Johnson in 1988 and four sisters, Hazel Anderson, Helen Scott, Evelyn Foster and Marion Fay.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 3 Preston St., Earlville, followed by interment in the Earlville Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m.
