Gwendolyn Morgan


NORWICH – Gwendolyn L. Morgan, 69, of Norwich, and former resident of South New Berlin, Gilbertville and Mt. Upton, passed away Tuesday morning, Aug. 14, 2012 at her home in Norwich.
Gwen was born on Nov. 23, 1942 in Bainbridge, the daughter of Raymond and Leatrice Bennett Stanton. She attended the Bainbridge-Guilford schools and on Nov. 3, 1962 in South New Berlin, she married William I. Morgan, who passed away July 17, 2003. In the mid 1980s she and her husband purchased a dairy farm in Gilbertsville which they operated together for several years and in 1993, they moved to the Mt. Upton area. Following the death of her husband, Gwen moved to Norwich, where she continued to make her home.
Over the years Gwen had worked for Bresee’s Dept. Store in Oneonta, the former Jamesway Store in Norwich, Hayes Office Products and most recently McLaughlin’s Dept. Store in Norwich.
Gwen is survived by her sons, Robert J. Morgan and his wife Christine of Binghamton and Dan Morgan of Norwich; her grandchildren Taneeka Afify and husband Mo, Justin Morgan and wife Veronica, Kody Smith and one great grandson Kareem Afify. She is also survived by her sister Noreen Viele of Unadilla and her brother Keith Stanton of Georgia.
Besides her husband Bill, Gwen was predeceased by her sister Donna Leonard.
Funeral services for Gwen will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Kurt Funke, pastor of the Gilbertsville Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery of South New Berlin.
There will be no calling hours.
